Real Stories of the Laws of Attraction at Work
According to Steve Pavlina (Personal Development Guru- Steve Pavlina ); “The Law of Attraction simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest”.
The release of the DVD, The Secret caused a ‘law of attraction frenzy’ amongst the population. According to the proponents, the Law of Attraction has 4 basic principles:
- Know our desires and ask for it.
- Focus our thoughts on the things we desire with enthusiasm or gratitude.
- Feel and behave as if we already acquired it.
- Be open to receiving it.
I am a great believer of the law of attraction. Why wouldn’t I be? I am living proof that it is true!! Let me share with you some stories of the law working in my own life.
Story 1:
While working as a medical technology intern at our regional hospital in Jamaica, I heard an announcement over the PA system that our hospital CEO received the national award for “Boss of the Year”. I soon found out that the CEO was 28 Years old… impressive achievements for such a young man. I wanted to network with him and learn his story and secrets to his success. There was to be a meeting with the hospital CEO and the Laboratory staff and I decided to introduce myself to him there.
Location Location Location
The CEO, Everton Anderson, sat at the head of the conference table and I positioned myself in the center of the long side of the table…right in his natural line of vision. I was listening keenly to his address. Speakers tend to seek an attentive listener to make eye contact with, so he found me and was often speaking directly to me (most of the others appeared disinterested).
During the seemingly unending debate between the two departments, I raised my hand and made a suggestion:
“Why don’t you create a position or appoint a person to carry out a laboratory investigation and create a strategic plan to improve the operations of the pathology laboratory?”
He thought it was a fantastic idea and asked; “why don’t you do it?”
“But I am an intern…leaving soon.”
“Doesn’t matter. Do it and we will see how it works out.”
BINGO! I was making myself recognized and indispensible…in the event that I wanted to apply for a fulltime position after the internship period. Since then I had to meet with the CEO to share my ideas and results and my strategic plan was well appreciated. I learned a lot from Everton Anderson and use many of the principles even today.
Story 2
My dad is my hero. I am forever ‘daddy’s little girl’. He and my mom introduced me to leadership and motivation through Dale Carnegie books, Les Brown cassettes (yes, cassettes…you know…finish side one and turn over to side B to continue listening!) He also introduced me to Kirk Nugent’s CD.
Kirk Nugent is a motivational speaker, poet, author, born in Jamaica and based in Florida. I fell in love with his Pursue Your Passion CD. Fast-forward a few years; I created my MySpace site and wrote as my heroes – my dad, Kirk Nugent, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry “anyone who overcame the obstacles to achieve their goals”.
A few months ago (2 years after having this on my profile) I received a message from Kirk Nugent telling me he loved the work I was doing in the entertainment industry. I was excited to receive such a message of laud from someone whom I admired so much. We began communicating and sharing ideas and he eventually asked me to do some promotional work with him in the Caribbean market.
WOWWWWWW!!!
Even better…I earned mention on his revised CD “I Just Want to Testify”. We collaborate often and he is now a contributor to my YaadNoyz Newsletter and upcoming online magazine, YaadNoyz Magazine.

See? I put it out there to one day meet people with whom I can network and learn and share my own entrepreneurship and leadership ideas. The Law of Attraction is real. I am not without my disappointments, but I still stand by the fact that positive thought manifests itself in success, achievements and self fulfillment.
The Breakdown
There is a process to it too. What really happens (this is my own break down of the law) is that once we focus on something we want; our mind starts to calculate how to get that desire met. Then we start to put those thoughts into actions, resulting in us achieving what we want without consciously calculating how to do it. When we couple our desires with conscious and strategic planning, we can achieve almost anything.
On the flip side, if we believe we cannot achieve a certain feat or desire, our mind ‘believes’ it and makes no effort to get it; instead it starts to accept the fact that it cannot satiate the desire and aim for a lesser feat…the mind ‘settles’.
I have never been a ‘settler’; I strive for only the best! I strive for complete and total happiness and each obstacle only serves to strengthen my character and makes my future biography that much more interesting (smile).
I would love to hear stories of the Law of Attraction working in your own life.

Hey Paula,
I enjoyed reading what you wrote on the Laws of Attraction. I really don’t know how I feel about the Laws of Attraction but I won’t deny it!! Let me share a story. I will try to be brief.
I’ve wanted to change my job for the longest time. I decided that I had to be around the people who could help me and so I had to put myself in that environment. The Governor of Florida was having a Climate Change Conference in Miami but the ticket was too expensive so I volunteered to work at the conference. I was assigned to work with the Governor’s press secretary and that put me in line to meet a whole bunch of people. I networked and now I am doing my fourth interview with a fortune 500 company that was represented at the conference. HereIs this the Laws of Attraction at work or is God granting me favor?
I did watch The Secret and saw Oprah’s show on The Secret and I even created a Manifestation board. .

OOh I feel the positive energy! Thank you!
Lesmarie, This is an awesome story of you being relentless to get what you want. You placed yourself in the position to have this happen. I believe it is BOTH the law of attraction and God’s awesome blessing!
Thanks for the comments! Keep on attracting great things!!!!

Hey Paula,
A well written article and a very interesting personal perspective on a controversial subject. If we really think about it we all can relate some life experience that could be classified as being a direct result of that Law. But what about the many life experiences that violate this “Law”. For example there are many times when I was preparing for exams I really believed I had no chance of passing, I would envision the disappointment that I, my parents or friends would feel if this happened and that would motivate me to study harder. In the end I would walk out of these exams believing that I surely had failed only to find out later that I passed them. I also have a friend who would call me after all her university exams, bawling that she had failed, guess what she passed all of them, usually with A’s. Laws do not have exceptions The Laws of Gravity or Thermodynamics do not have exceptions, so the “Laws of Attraction” is not a Law. I do however subscribe to some of its statements. I certainly believe that if we have positive thoughts that can certainly promote/manifest positive changes in our life and I certainly surround myself with positive people. Just adding my 2 cents to a well written article

Wow I have so many stories but I’ll share my most recent.
While being a walking zombie on a early Sunday morning. Boredom and insomnia lead me to a website called “Twitter”. I signed up and interestingly I stumbled across a pessimistic, opinionated and intriguing person. We exchanged IM addresses and ever since then Paula my life has never been the same.
On my birthday which was last July, he created a blog as a gift. To be honest it’s the best birthday present I’ve ever gotten in my life. More so because not only has Gordon allowed me to change my life and share my writings, but he saw significance, meaning and purpose. He saw the stewardship of influence and the stewardship of affluence; that I wasn’t able to see.
I was blinded and because of this gift I’m able to inspire others with my talent, my knowledge and my writings. The blog was created for those who are on the search for freedom; for all who believe in power of words and their potential to heal.
I think it’s the law of attraction because I believe we’re not here by accident. I think we matter, I think we matter to God, we matter to history, we matter to this universe. I’ve changed so many lives in such a small space, that it leaves me in tears, overwhelmed and inspired.
Call it karma, positive energy or law of attraction whatever it is, it feels GREAT!!!

ATL- You are so right about ‘laws’ not having exceptions. I think ‘Law’ is used loosely for effect .I have also experienced many many situations where I thought I didn’t succeed at something and (thankfully) the ‘law’ failed and I did well! I think being positive and surrounding ourselves with great uplifting spirits make a world of difference in our lives and destiny. Thanks for your ‘2 cents’… it was priceless!!!
Audra- I have visited your site, and it is indeed a source of inspiration and positivity. I am happy that you stumbled upon twitter and happy the law of attraction led you to fulfilling what is obviously one of your life’s purposes.
Pastor Samson, Thank you for your endorsement and blessings!

Simply, wow! I am so loving http://www.paulayeesing.com. Love it! A well written; and very interesting article on, Laws of Attraction.
You know, for a very long time I’ve believed in the concept and I have seen it play out my life and others – you in da mix!
Quite recently, I was put to the test of, “life’s Law’s” I was in an accident with the only guy at the time who I would have called husband. He did not make it. Exactly one year later my mom met in a similar accident and died five days later…..
It was inevitable that I surround myself with positive energy. Never thought I would bounce back to being my usual bubbly self again. But, I am coming around the corner; some would say I am around the corner. When you find yourself at the place I found myself-a new kind of low; it is imperative that you surround myself with positive thoughts, good vibes and ‘crazy’ energy! That is what I did and is still doing so when you say; “If you really want something and believe it’s possible, you’ll probable get it. I say to you Paula and your blog readers, that getting what you want/desire when you play with the, “Laws of Attraction” comes with a leap of faith. You will never know the end result until you try…
Bless
